Building on its unprecedented success in 2008, Sustainability in Packaging will attract key leaders and innovators in sustainability to the Rosen Plaza hotel in Orlando, Florida, March 2-4, for three days of prescient talks, lively discussion, and valuable networking. With sustainability becoming a more salient component of the consumer conscience and business strategy, now, more than ever, it is imperative for you to learn the latest developments for sustainable packaging. Whether you wish to learn how to reduce your company’s environmental footprint, get updated on the latest material and design advances, or to better understand how to market sustainable products, you will not want to miss Sustainability in Packaging 2009.
Featuring over 40 talks, a multi-tracked program placing special emphasis on discussion and delegate interaction, and two intensive pre-conference seminars, Sustainability in Packaging 2009 will offer a comprehensive assessment of the entire industry. Several key industry players including Estee Lauder, the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, DuPont, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Unilever, John & Johnson, The Kellogg Company, Nokia, and more have already committed to speaking at this year’s event.
John Kalkowski, Editorial Director of Packaging Digest/Converting, will chair this year’s conference. Our program committee will be further assisted by our prestigious advisory board that includes John Delfausse, VP Global Packaging, Estee Lauder; Melissa Schweisguth, Manager – Corporate Social Responsibility, The Hershey Company; Susan Selke, Acting and Associate Director, Michigan State University’s School of Packaging; Michael Rubinstein, Chief Growth and Innovation Officer, Alcan Packaging; and Gary Parker, Sustainability Director, Ciba Expert Services.
There is still time to submit an abstract for the 2009 Sustainability in Packaging speaker program! Topics of particular interest for this year’s agenda include sustainability strategy including green marketing, strategies for moving toward sustainability in turbulent economic conditions, and adapting to new government regulations; alternative materials and packaging design; and production and supply chain issues. Additional topic proposal are encouraged and will be given full consideration. End user case studies are of particular interest. Topics should focus on the business and technical information that is the subject of the conference, rather than the product line, sales interests or management structure of an individual organization. The total time allotted for each presentation is 30 minutes, with 20-25 minutes for the presentation and 5-10 minutes for questions and discussion. For a comprehensive listing of conference sessions and proposed paper topics please download our speakers’ advisory by clicking here. For additional questions about speaking opportunities please contact Olga Adamovich: +1 207 781 9628 or olga.adamovich@pira-international.com
Topic ideas for pre-conference seminars are also invited at this time. Pre-conference seminars are classroom style workshops intended for 20-30 participants. They are designed to provide ample time for in-depth discussion, questions and answers, and student-instructor interaction. A completed submission should include your affiliation, speaker name, job title and contact information, a topic summary of no more than one page and a tentative title and sub-headings for the presentation. Abstracts must be received by November 7, 2008 and may be submitted by fax: +1 207 781 2150 or email: olga.adamovich@pira-international.com.
